PMS (PreMenstrual Syndrome)
PMS, or PreMenstrual Syndrome, is a complex combination of physical and emotional symptoms that you might experience one to two weeks before your period. The severity of these symptoms usually lessens or disappears during the first few days of your period.
PMS is extremely common. In fact, most women and individuals who menstruate report at least one physical and/or psychological symptom during the two weeks before their periods start.4 The good news is that there are ways to feel better and get back to being you. Naprogesic can help relieve many of the common pain symptoms that come along with your period.
There's no reason to suffer every month. Since hormones are extremely sensitive to diet, exercise, work and sleep patterns, making even minor adjustments in your routine can make a big difference in the way you feel.
You can also relieve your period symptoms with medication. Naprogesic treats the cause of periods to relieve more of your period symptoms, including cramps and muscle aches.
If you experience period pain within a couple of years of getting your periods, then the cause of period pain is most probably tiny molecules called prostaglandins . When you have your period these are released to help the muscles of your uterus contract so it can expel its lining. The strength of contractions depends on the amount of prostaglandins your body produces. If your body produces a lot of the molecules, or if you are particularly sensitive to them, they may cause pain.
Diet, exercise and the impact on PMS symptoms
The bad news: Some of your go-to-when-you’re-feeling-rough foods may actually make period symptoms like anxiety, irritability, fatigue and headaches worse. The good news? Knowing what to avoid is the first step to feeling better. Limit your intake of the following:
- Sweets
- Salty foods
- Excessive caffeine
- Alcohol
Moderate exercise such as walking, and Yoga can improve your physical fitness and enhance your state of mind. Physical activity releases the body's natural "feel good" chemicals that act as a painkiller and mood lifter. The more you work out, the better you might feel.
Moderate exercise like swimming can improve your physical fitness and make you feel better. Bathing during your period is just fine, and it may even relax your muscles, which can help relieve cramps, so treat yourself to a warm bath!
